This 12 week induction programme is designed specifically for Healthcare Assistants but is ideal for anyone interested in a career in healthcare as it provides an insight into what healthcare involves.  It covers all mandatory training requirements, using the Skills For Care as its foundation.

This course includes a number of training sessions as well as a number of practical sessions, as follows:

Training Sessions

- Moving and Handling
- Health and Safety
- Basic Life Support
- Infection Control
- Food Hygiene
- Clinical Observations
- Vulnerable Adults
- Medication Awareness

Practical Sessions

5 practical supervised sessions working with patients and receiving practical assessment.

Outcomes

- To have a knowledge and understanding to your role and your contribution
- To be able to articulate your role confidentiality to other professionals
- To know how to work as part of the multi disciplinary team/setting
- Recognise your strengths and weaknesses
- To structure your development needs

Further Study

These certificated courses and practical training leads to a foundation in care award and provides a solid platform of learning for the NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
