The NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care is a recognised qualification and is suitable for anyone either currently working in residential, nursing, domiciliary or day centre based care, or who is able to secure a placement in a care setting.

All healthcare assistants are required now to undertake their NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care within 6 months of employment.

Course material by United Kingdom Home Care Association (UKHCA).  Certificate awarded by Edexcel.

Aim of Course

To meet the necessary standards in caring required by Commission Social Care inspection (Regulations Care Standards Act 2000).

This is a twelve week course which covers theory and practical sessions. You will complete six units of development undertaking three practical assessments. Throughout this course you will receive tutor lectures and practical supervision

Outcomes

To be able:
- To understand communication skills and to communicate effectively
- Understand aspects of Health and Safety and how to apply these in the work setting
- To develop yourself as a Healthcare Assistant
- To understand the signs of abuse and to act appropriately if you suspect an abusive situation
- To demonstrate other areas of competence by undertaking two further optional units which relate to your client group
