This role:
Assesses care needs, implements and monitors care plans, administers medication and provides advice for patients/ clients with Learning Disabilities.
Carries out nursing procedures to support and care for clients with Learning Disability.
Provides clinical supervision to other staff, students.
Provides individual support for people with learning disability to enable them to live in the community and make their own choices.
Works within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality care, with an emphasis on promoting independence.

You will need to be registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register for the assignment, RN (Learning Disabilities) RN5, RN6. Along with this you need current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice caring for people with Learning Disabilities in a health care setting appropriate to the assignment, and if you are newly qualified (within the last year) you need evidence that a preceptorship programme has been completed successfully.
A teaching & assessing qualification is desirable but not required.
