Midwife (Community or Hospital)

£27.20ph London

A band 6 midwife required to work with women, babies and their families in the Community or a hospital setting.

Ref: MW2/M6

The role assesses the full range of care needs and develops, implements and evaluates programmes of care throughout the ante-natal, intra-partum and post-natal period for women and their babies. Provides a full range of health education and social care advice to women in a range of settings pre-conceptually, antenatally and postnatally. Acts as a mentor for less experienced midwives and other staff. Works autonomously within NMC midwives rules & standards, other NMC guidelines, statutory supervision and spheres of professional practice.

You need to be a RM Registered Midwife, with an active NMC registration. You need evidence of continued professional development (by an up to date personal professional portfolio). You must have undertaken a minimum of 35 hours of learning activity relevant to her/his practice during the 3 year period prior to the renewal of registration along with adult and neonatal resuscitation training and training/skills drills in obstetric emergencies. You must have successfully completed a 12 month foundation gateway current (within last 6 months) evidence based practice. Evidence of applying current research to practice is required and experience in the provision of midwifery care to women with normal and complicated pregnancies is required.

It is desirable but not essential for you to have theatre experience,home birth experience, ENB 997 or equivalent, advanced Life Support in Obstetrics experience.
